Who is eligible for a scholarship?

All graduating seniors of Killdeer High School who are pursuing education beyond high school are eligible.

Home schooled seniors in the Killdeer School District are also eligible.

How do I apply for a scholarship?

Go to the Students and Parents Tab of this website to create a login to ChapterNet.  You will be asked to create your profile which includes demographic, academic and extracurricular information.  You will also be asked to provide Guidance Counselor or Registrar information from your high school or college.

How are scholarships awarded?

The criteria for selection of the recipients is determined by our committee members using a predetermined set of scoring criteria.  The criteria involves consideration of the scholastic performance, school and community involvement, work experience, extracurricular activities, and aspirations and goals of the student.  All of this information is obtained via our application process, as described above.  Recipients are then anonymously selected by our committee members.

How and when are scholarship awards distributed?

Scholarship recipients are announced at graduation.  Scholarship funds are distributed after submitting the grades from the first semester of college to our chapter treasurer. In addition, proof of registration for the second semester is required, which is simply a list of classes the student is registered for. The funds are made payable to the college the student is attending and are mailed to the student's home address. If requested by the student, the funds can also be sent directly to the financial aid office of the college they are attending.

How are scholarships funded?

Funding for awards comes from two sources, endowment fund earnings and special scholarship monies from contributors who have set up funding through our organization.

What is the endowment fund?

The endowment fund is composed of endowment fund accounts that earn interest and dividends that are distributed in our awards.  An account can be established in memory of a loved one or in the name of a living individual, a club, an organization, a business or even a high school class.

Donations are maintained as principle in the designated account.  Only earnings are distributed as awards.

How can I establish or learn more about an endowment fund account?

Any of our officers or board members can assist you.  Please contact one of us with any questions.

Who should I contact if I have additional questions?

Please contact one of the board members listed under Our Board.
